Celebrate connection and make memories in this lovingly restored worker’s cottage. Ideal for a family getaway or a weekend with friends, it’s the perfect combination of stylish elegance and a relaxed bohemian feel.
The fully equipped kitchen is the heart of the house—and the perfect place to plan your activities for the day. An open design connects the spacious living and dining rooms to the enclosed courtyard and garden.
Three spacious queen bedrooms and the four-bed bunk room are thoughtfully outfitted with premium linens and mattresses. The neutral colour scheme and tasteful, bohemian style sets the scene for a tranquil, relaxed break.
Built in the early 1900s, the cottage has been part of our family since 2003. The extension and restoration highlights the beauty of its heritage elements: polished Jarrah floorboards, stunning timber-lined walls, original fireplaces and views of Mamang-Koort (Princess Royal Harbour) and Kardarup (Mount Melville).
Kardarup has been a traditional meeting site for Noongar people for generations. We invite you to gather and connect with your nearest and dearest with that in mind.

We encourage you to make yourselves at home—play games, start a jigsaw, bake muffins, take a bath, contemplate the chooks, or seek out your favourite quiet corner. The chickens and gardens require tending every now and then so you may see us about. We keep a low profile but we’re always here to help if you need it.

Whether you’re looking for a retreat for two or a home base for up to three families—we’ve thought of everything you’ll need to make the most of your trip. Dogs are welcome, provided they don’t have a taste for chickens.
‘We loved our stay at Lou’s place. There was heaps of space for our group of six adults and three children. The welcome was very warm and there were lots of special touches. The kids were thrilled with the chickens and fruit trees on the property!
Our host was very responsive and made sure the house was well stocked with all the supplies we needed. Will definitely recommend a stay at The Allotment when in Albany with a large family.’
